BSAS R and Statistics Workshop 2018 R & Statistics

BSAS is once again hosting its R and Statistics Workshop.
This is a two-day practical techniques course aimed at postgraduate students in the animal sciences, and open to non-student BSAS members, that want to learn R and refresh their knowledge of statistics. It will be held at the University of Cumbria,  Room LG103, Learning Gateway Fusehill Street, Carlisle, Cumbria. CA1 2HH.
Led by Dr Davina Hill, this hands-on course aims to make statistics clear, straightforward and fun.
The two days will help you understand:
• how to get started with R
• simple and multiple regression
• analysis of variance (Anova)
• model checking
• experimental design
This is also a great chance to meet students from around the country working in your research area.
Our workshop is aimed primarily at postgraduate students in animal science, but is also open to scientists in need of a refresher.
About the Tutor:
Davina Hill is Lecturer in Zoology at the University of Cumbria, with research interests in the effects of weather on dairy production and behaviour, and adaptation to climate change. She holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  She held postdoctoral positions at the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg) and SRUC (Edinburgh), and was a Visiting Fellow at the University of Zurich.  She currently teaches Research Methods and Data Analysis modules to students from a range of scientific backgrounds and has been developing and leading the BSAS R and Statistics course since 2013.
